Have fun at Schoolies Week and don’t get caught up with the law.

Some behaviour that you might think is okay can actually be against the law, especially when you are in a public place. Below is a list of some common offences that could get you in trouble. Fines for offences are calculated using a formula where 1 penalty unit equals $130.55 (as of 1 July 2018).

Remember, having a criminal history can affect your future employment and travel opportunities.

Young people can call Legal Aid Queensland’s Youth Legal Advice Hotline on 1800 527 527 to talk to a lawyer and get free and confidential legal advice about being charged with an offence and talking to police.

This line operates Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm and Saturday 7am to 12pm (except for public holidays).
